The storyteller behind Wilderwhim Woods.
Created with love in Texas
Debi Black Vandiver is a Texas author, artist, and proud member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the mother of two sons — her very own "SONshine."
A storyteller at heart, Debi has always found joy in creating. Whether with words, poetry, music, or in the kitchen, creativity has been her favorite way to express herself and connect with others.
Nature is where her imagination comes alive. Aspen, Colorado, is her favorite mountain town, and the breathtaking beauty of Maroon Bells inspired the woodland landscape of Wilderwhim Woods. From the beaches of Port Aransas, Texas, to the shores of Maui, Hawaii, Debi is reminded that wonder can be found wherever we choose to look.
Through Barry Goodwon and the Friends of Wilderwhim Woods, Debi hopes every child who visits the forest leaves believing they are welcome, they are important, and that kindness is always terrific.
"To my very own pair of bookends... my mother, Malvery Roberts Powell, who helped write the beginning of my story, and my granddaughter, Rory Lynn, who inspires every chapter still to come. With all my love, Debi (NoNonna)"
